We often hear the saying, “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it’s yours.” But John offers a different perspective: some things we love need to be let go of—and never welcomed back. In 1 John 2:15–17, he warns us against giving our hearts to the lusts and pride of this world, revealing that these desires are not from the Father and are destined to pass away. Instead of investing our lives in what won't last, we're called to love God, obey His will, and pursue what remains forever.
