It’s possible to know a lot about Jesus without truly knowing Him. In 1 John 2:3–6, John gives us a practical way to recognize genuine faith: those who know Jesus will keep His commands. This obedience doesn’t earn us a relationship with God; it grows out of the relationship we already have with Him, maturing our love for God along the way. And as we follow Jesus, His life becomes the pattern for our own—we learn to walk just as He walked.
