The Antichrist We Face

by Jeff Thompson on May 13, 2015

On Sunday we covered one of the darkest chapters in the Bible - Revelation 13. It outlines the regime of Antichrist and the unholy trinity he forms with Satan and the false prophet.

While believers will be raptured and with Jesus in Heaven before Antichrist is revealed (thank you, Lord!), John’s epistles tell us that antichrist is in fact a spirit that has been active for centuries (the “Antichrist” of Revelation will certainly be given over to this spirit).

We know that the word “antichrist” means “against Christ” but it equally means “pseudo Christ” or “in place of Christ”. It’s a spirit behind anything in our lives that occupies space that should belong to Jesus.

It’s a good thing to stop and regularly ask ourselves, “Is there an antichrist in my life?”

How do we know? There’s a great question that make things very clear, very fast: “When I’m tried, stressed out, in pain (fill in your own blank)… what’s the first thing I run to?”

Is it Jesus or do we self-medicate with an antichrist?

Do you run to a person or a specific relationship?

Do you turn on the TV so that you can turn off your mind?

Do you drink?

Pop a pill?

Watch Internet porn or indulge in some other sexual immorality?

Exercise?

Or is Jesus your shield and your strength? Your refuge in times or trouble?

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
 - Proverbs 18:10

The Jesus who saved your soul for eternity is the same Jesus who will save your soul moment to moment and allow you overcome the tribulations of this life. Don't run to anything else!
